Winding Down

These pics are two weeks old, but they are from one of our final days on the water in Ketchikan.  Whales everywhere, including a 40+ behemoth that rocketed out of the water about 100 yards from the boat, at sunset, all lit up in golden light with golden water pouring off of it as it then turned and crashed back into the sea.  No pics of that, because it's impossible to predict.  This was one of our most memorable days on the water.

Success with the 600mm lens.

A large humpback showing both of it's pectoral fins.  So it's essentially on it's back, with pectorals in the air.

A little late catching the breaching whale.  This wasn't the sunset breach.

Lots of tail slapping this day.
