Going south at 20mph in the boat today when a giant creature lunged out of the sea about 75 yards in front of us. At first, I thought it was a big boat flipping through the air and somehow flipping upside down. It wasn't until after the huge splash that I realized it was a 40ft humpback completely out of the water, spinning, and landing on its back. Took me 15 minutes to get my HR below 100bpm. No pics, but here's a pic of a tail slap it did after the breach. Also got boarded by the Coast Guard again today for a safety check. Our boat is so weird, they said they saw it around town and now in the water, and knew they hadn't checked it out yet. As usual, super nice guys.
