We sat just north of the Annette Bay ferry dock with the motor off for quite a while, probably an hour or so, then a humpback circles to the back of the boat, then came towards our boat. It basically dove right in front of the boat, then surfaced just port side about 10ft away, then dove. Pretty unreal. Prior to this, it was surfacing every 5-6 minutes and barely leaving the surface, taking 4-5 smaller breaths, then diving. It was hanging in Annette Bay for a couple hours or more. Niki has seen this whale for weeks, and it's likely the same one. Today we were lucky enough to get fluke shots.
Too lazy to caption pics.
