Sunshine and dentists............

Three days of sunshine intermixed with dental appointments and a root canal.  Some success crabbing, and some skunking.  Can't win 'em all.  Also, as usual, more whales right out front from the deck.

We learned first hand how big those bow waves are when in our zodiac.  The little zodiac is incredible stable and seaworthy, but those suckers are big.

Otters mating?

Old humpity humpster humpback.

So calm even the paddle boarders were way out in the middle of Nichols Passage.

Alone in silence up Carroll Inlet.

WTF?

Post boating dinner on the deck.

Whales, Crabs, Moon, Rain

Had a great crabbing day Monday, pulling up 18 crab in two pots.  Unfortunately, only three were keepers.  Made some tasty crab cakes and crab omelettes for breakfast.  Crabbing via zodiac is the way to go.  Simple, cheap, and fun.

Started seeing humpbacks again too.  A few days ago we were out in the Zodiac and there were all these people staring off the bike path.  We had just spotted a lone humpback that was apparently breaching and putting on a show just before we saw it.  Seeing that happen in a Zodiac would have me turning towards shore.

Humpback viewed from Zodiac.

Off work at 4:20, in the water by 5:10, first humpback at 5:23, home by 6:15.

Clams spitting.

Two humpbacks viewed from our deck.  One diving, and one just surfacing.  More pics here.

Deer Mtn Skiing

Went out skiing with Quentin and Sam as a group of three, which makes up about 50% of the population of skiers on this island.  We got maybe a foot or so of new snow in the mountains, but all above 2,000ft, which seems to be the theme for the bulk of the snowfall this year.  I had very low motivation, but alas, once you get into the alpine, it's always fun to be there.  After skiing it was a bike ride, then a two hour boat ride in the Zodiac to test it out after putting in a new fuel pump diaphragm.  Motor is working great, ready for more crabbing trips.

Skiing of the edge of the world.

Sam hopping down the crust.

Small boats for the win.
