Swamp Monster

95 degrees and 85+ humidity turned Alex into a swamp monster.

Ready For Fall

It's going to be hot this week, but riding this morning felt like fall was right around the corner.  Looking forward to spending fall in Minnesota with the changing leaves.

Sand Bar

Working on getting Alex used to the water.  There's a nice sandbar in the middle of the river that will be perfect when he gets used to it. Hard to think of a better place for a kid on a hot and humid day.

Twisty single track and big rivers.

Riding buff single track in the woods with hills that last five pedal revolutions and a nice cruise on the river.

Back Home

Arrived in Sauk Rapids where my mother lives.  Perfect spot to spend the fall.  River front parking for the RV and excellent road and mountain biking.  Looking forward to watching the fall colors come in.

Lake Kampeska

On the SD/MN border in a lame campground 8 miles from an awesome campground on Lake Kampeska (20/20 hindsight).  13 mile ride around the lake before dinner on almost all bike trail, then quiet country roads.  Cool town.

La Framboise Island

Pierre, SD (central SD).  The Capital of SD, and a weird place.  Camped in a city park along the Missouri River behind the hospital.  Made time for an evening ride on La Framboise Island.

Gotta be flexible

Went out for a ride this morning and got an email from my recruiter saying "call me".  That's never good.  Well, my MN contract was cancelled due to "low census".  Awesome, thanks.  Two minutes later I had a good paying job in CA, but I'm in SD heading to MN.  No thanks, not going to CA yet.  So now we are working per diem in MN starting next week and trying to set up a contract for a three month assignment.  Either way, we have work, but last minute changes are annoying to say the least.  The bonus is I get paid for two weeks for doing absolutely nothing.

Pics of today's ride on the Old Baldy Trail and a ride up Higgins Gulch while Alex knaps.  Spearfish is awesome, and I'd love to get an assignment here.
